For those of you that may have questions about the reasoning that led us to use RED NOIZE to identify the collection of Chicago, Aurora, IL, Oakland, South Dakota artists and young indigenous activists.....I want to offer the following
I see and feel that RED represents all the "blood" that was spilled needlessly during the "manufacturing" of the United States of America (a giant corporation) which started with the invasion, the genocide and colonization of the First Nations...in the North and in the South and on the islands...
and was carried into the slave trade, Salem witch trials (burning of women), the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Trail of Tears, the Mexican-American War, the Civil War, Little Big Horn, the Massacre at Wounded Knee, the gang wars in New York City, World War I and II, the Great Depression of 1929, the Zoot Suit Riots, the bracero program, the illegal overthrow of the Iranian and Guatemalan democracies, the Civil rights movement, the United Farm Workers movement, the Viet Nam War, the death squads in Central America, Africa and Asia, the attacks on Palestine and it's people, the Zapatista and EZLN uprising, the invasions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, and the never ending killing fields (gang wars and police wars) in our urban areas.......and on and on and on....
NOIZE is the cries, the yells, the tears, the laughter, the songs, the stories, the drumming, the dances and the poems that our ancestors never wanted us to forget!
I also have my own thoughts about the the resurgence of the Arts, dance and music during this time of healing..
It will be the young people that will heal this country and this planet and they will bring awareness and this healing through the use of their artistic gifts, their gifts which has their spiritual stamp of peace, love and passion.
The political and educational systems (and it's leaders) of this country continues to slash and eliminate the arts, the music and the dance from school settings because they know that young people cannot be mind controlled by the Matrix to work for greed driven corporations once they have connected with their inner and true gifts. This is the awakening that is now taking place.
Today we call it Hip-Hop, Healthy Indigenous People - Honoring the Original People!
Of course others will have their definition of what is taking place.....Ometeotl!
One mind, one body, one spirit!
